Munywana Leopard Project

This project, run under the auspices of the Panthera Foundation, is one of the longest standing & best recognised scientific leopard projects in Africa- investigating not only leopard biology & behaviour but more importantly a variety of challenges facing conservation of the African Leopard in a man-dominated world.

Munywana Elephant & Rhino monitoring & research

Zvaka-naka provides support services- collaring, veterinary treatments & advice to the ongoing monitoring & research of elephants & Rhino in the Mun-ya-wana Resource Reserve, Zululand, South Africa.

The main objectives of the program include:

  • Individual ID, microchipping & monitoring of rhino & elephant for anti-poaching purposes
  • Monitoring of efficacy of non-invasive contraception techniques in elephant
  • Collaring of lead cows of various elephant family groups
  • Monitoring & research of rhino & elephant behaviour, social dynamics & population performance
